The great experiment over at NBC, placing former “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno into a one-hour prime time show, is coming to an end, as you’ve no doubt heard by now. NBC made it official that they were pulling Leno from their prime time schedule.
Some in the blogosphere are calling the show one of the biggest blunders in the history of television. CBS, on the other hand, isn’t so quick to complain.
CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler claims her network took in more advertising revenue for its 10 p.m. dramas because NBC decided to put Leno’s low-rated comedy show on at that hour.
Tassler is also grateful that CBS’s scripted dramas are doing better than ever, from the CSI franchises, to THE MENTALIST to one of the biggest hits of the new season, THE GOOD WIFE.
“There’s no substitute for just developing and producing and launching great shows,” Tassler said.
