Sneak Peak: The Good Wife

THE GOOD WIFE is a drama starring Emmy® Award winner Julianna Margulies as a wife and mother who must assume full responsibility for her family and re-enter the workforce after her husband’s very public sex and political corruption scandal lands him in jail.

Pushing aside the betrayal and crushing public humiliation caused by her husband Peter (Chris Noth), Alicia Florrick (Margulies) starts over by pursuing her original career as a defense attorney. As a junior associate at a prestigious Chicago law firm, she joins her longtime friend, former law school classmate and firm partner Will Gardner (Josh Charles), who is interested to see how Alicia will perform after 13 years out of the courtroom.

Alicia is grateful the firm’s top litigator, Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski), offers to mentor her but discovers the offer has conditions and realizes she’s going to need to succeed on her own merit. Alicia’s main competition among the firm’s 20-something new recruits is Cary (Matt Czuchry), a recent Harvard grad who is affable on the surface, but will use any means to ensure that he, not Alicia, secures the one full-time associate position that’s available. Fortunately, Alicia finds an ally in Kalinda (Archie Panjabi), the firm’s tough in-house investigator.

Gaining confidence every day, Alicia transforms herself from embarrassed politician’s scorned wife to resilient career woman, especially for the sake of providing a stable home for her children, 14-year-old Zach (Graham Phillips) and 13-year-old Grace (Makenzie Vega). For the first time in years, Alicia trades in her identity as the “good wife” and takes charge of her own destiny.

Big Honors for CBS News

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC won the Edward R. Murrow award for best evening newscast for the second year in a row, it was announced today by the Radio and Television News Directors’ Association. 60 MINUTES was awarded three Murrow awards – the only network news magazine honored by the judges.

“The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC is simply is the best daily news program on television and, once again, the industry experts are giving CBS EVENING NEWS the critical acclaim it deserves,” said Sean McManus, President, CBS News and Sports. “60 Minutes continues to dominate as the most successful and important news magazine in broadcast history.”

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC airs weeknights at 6:30pm on LIVE 5 WCSC, and 60 MINUTES airs Sunday nights at 7:00pm.

CBS to Air Special Honoring Jackson

CBS has just announced that it will air a special honoring megastar Michael Jackson on Tuesday.

The special, MICHAEL JACKSON: PICKING UP THE PIECES, will air at 10:00pm in place of the previously-scheduled episode 48 HOURS MYSTERY.

Five key parts of Jackson’s life and death will be explored in the special:

1. THE INVESTIGATION – Were there medical mistakes that may have contributed to Michael’s death? We’ll also take a look at the family issues that might be at play including the second autopsy they have requested. What do they think they’ll find? We’ll also include memorial plans.

2. THE BLACK EXPERIENCE – We’ll examine the lingering questions over Jackson’s physical transformations. . . what it meant for him to be Black and to be accepted by his peers and the music community.

3. THE CHILDREN – An in depth look at the battle over the kids. Who will get custody of Michael’s children?

4. SHOW ME THE MONEY – How much did Michael really make and how much did he lose? We’ll take a look at his experience of living the life of excess

5. THE LIVING LEGACY – We’ll take a look at the artists and the musical genres he influenced.

Katie Couric will anchor the broadcast from New York. CBS correspondents Bill Whitaker, Harold Dow and Peter Van Sant, along with The Insider’s Lara Spencer, MTV’s Tim Cash and ET’s Kevin Frazier will contribute to the special report.

Jackson, known as the King of Pop to fans around the globe, died on Thursday at age 50.

Sneak Peak: Three Rivers

THREE RIVERS is a medical drama that goes inside the emotionally complex lives of organ donors, the recipients and the surgeons at the preeminent transplant hospital in the country where every moment counts. However, dealing with donor families in their darkest hour and managing the fears and concerns of apprehensive recipients takes much more than just a sharp scalpel.

Leading the elite team is Dr. Andy Yablonski (Alex O’Loughlin), the highly-skilled workaholic lead organ transplant surgeon, whose good-natured personality and sarcastic wit makes him popular with his patients and colleagues. His colleagues include Dr. Miranda Foster (Katherine Moennig), a surgical fellow with a rebellious streak and fiery temper who strives to live up to her deceased father’s excellent surgical reputation; Dr. David Lee (Daniel Henney), a womanizing surgical resident who’s broken as many hearts as he’s replaced; Ryan Abbott (Christopher J. Hanke), the inexperienced new transplant coordinator who arranges the intricately choreographed process of quickly and carefully transporting organs from donor to patient; Dr. Sophia Jordan (Julia Ormond), the head of surgery and a dedicated medical professional; and Pam Acosta (Justina Machado), Andy’s no-nonsense operating assistant and best friend.

In this high stakes arena, in which every case is a race against the clock, these tenacious surgeons and medical professionals are the last hope for their patients.

THREE RIVERS premieres on LIVE 5 WCSC in Septmber, and will air Sundays at 9:00pm.

Wednesday’s Episode of As The World Turns

Portions of the soap AS THE WORLD TURNS did not air today on LIVE 5 WCSC because of live coverage of Governor Mark Sanford’s press conference.

Here’s a synopsis of today’s episode so you can stay up-to-date:

Alison and Hunter return to Aurora, Hunter’s mother, in search of Hunter’s real father. They try to prod her memory of the man she once mentioned, named Tristan, but to no avail. Hunter discovers his father is listed as Tristan Wagner on his birth certificate, but upon further investigation the only Tristan Wagner in the area is definitely not Hunter’s father. Upset, they go to Yo’s where Hunter kisses Ali, but Ali turns him down.

Larry miraculously finds Emily’s eggs at Memorial and invites her to the opera to celebrate. Emily and Larry grow closer as they share drinks in his hotel room. Tired and tipsy, Emily crashes at Larry’s. Susan, meanwhile, is highly suspicious that Larry was able to so easily discover Emily’s missing eggs. Susan warns the attending nurse who allowed Larry into the hospital that she must never give Larry access again.

Dusty discovers Damian is buying up a controlling amount of shares in WorldWide. Dusty confronts Damian in the Lakeview Lobby, in front of Bonnie, Meg, Lily, and Holden. Meg can’t stand it and swears off men. Lily talks to Damian about his decision and Damian admits he was wrong. Lily agrees to help Damian in his pursuit of Meg. Damian sells the shares he was buying. Dusty’s relieved but can’t let it go. Bonnie tries to calm him down and they go on a date. Damian apologizes to Meg, who admits he may have a chance with her if he stops using his money to control people. Holden asks Lily to not support Damian’s interest in Meg.

Today’s Episode of The Young and The Restless

President Barack Obama’s press conference wiped out today’s episode of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. Unfortunately, we’re not able to run the episode elsewhere, but we can at least give you a synopsis of what happened on today’s show so you’ll be all caught up in time for Wednesday:

Victoria and JT have coffee and JT tries to express how concerned he was that Victoria did not listen to him and could have been more seriously hurt when she met with Aucker. Victoria begins to cry when she realizes that it is Sabrina and Victor’s anniversary.

Meanwhile, Dr. Taylor checks on Ashley and lies about the health of the baby. Victor leaves and Adam corners Dr. Taylor asking if he brought the stuff they discussed. Dr. Taylor gives Adam the botox injections and warns him it could do permanent damage to his eyes. Victoria and JT discuss how hurt Victoria is over how she treated Sabrina. Victor makes peace with Sabrina at the statue and finally says goodbye to her. Victor then orders the groundskeeper to remove the statue of Sabrina from the garden. Victoria takes the news that Sabrina’s statue has been removed and her portrait taken down very harshly. Upstairs, Adam tries to inject himself with the botox in his eyes and he drops the vial, shattering it on the ground.

Michael, Kevin, Jana, Amber, Phyllis, and Daniel arrive at court for Daniel and Jana’s hearing. In the courtroom, Heather tries to show that Daniel could jump bail again based on when he was a teenager and he fled to California. Daniel is released on bail but the bail is set at a million dollars. The judge agrees with Heather that Jana could be dangerous and the Judge denies Jana bail. Nick and Sharon house hunt and quite possibly find the perfect dream home for their baby. They decide to call her Faith, the name that Nick dreamed of when he dreamt of Cassie. Phyllis interrupts Nick and Sharon’s discussion of the new house to ask if she can access their account to get Daniel bail. Daniel tries to figure out who would set him up. Meanwhile a dark figure is informed by Ryder that Daniel has got out on bail and Jana has been denied bail. The mystery figure throws his glass against the wall because of this news.

Sneak Peak: NCIS: Los Angeles

NCIS: LOS ANGELES is a drama about the high stakes world of undercover surveillance at the Office of Special Projects (OSP), a division of NCIS that is charged with apprehending dangerous and elusive criminals that pose a threat to the nation’s security.

By assuming false identities and utilizing the most advanced technology, this team of highly trained agents goes deep undercover, putting their lives on the line in the field to bring down their targets.

Special Agent “G” Callen (Chris O’Donnell) is a chameleon who transforms himself into whomever he needs to be to infiltrate the criminal underworld. His partner is Special Agent Sam Hanna (LL COOL J), a former U.S. Navy SEAL who has seen action in both Afghanistan and Iraq, and a surveillance expert who uses state of the art monitoring equipment to look out for those in the field and feed them crucial information. Both Callen and Hanna report to Special Agent Lara Macy (Louise Lombard), the OSP team leader responsible for directing the operations and making life-or-death decisions.

Assisting the team is Special Agent Kensi Lo (Daniela Ruah), the exceptionally bright daughter of a slain Marine who lives for the adrenalin rush that comes with undercover work, and Operational Psychologist Nate Getz (Peter Cambor), adept at getting into anybody’s head, profiling the target and monitoring agents’ states of mind before, during and after missions. Armed with the latest in high tech gear and sent regularly into life-threatening situations, this tight-knit team relies on each other to do what is necessary to protect national interests.

NCIS: LOS ANGELES premieres on LIVE 5 WCSC in September, and will air on Tuesdays at 9:00pm, immediately following NCIS.

Introducing My 5!

We’re launching an exciting new feature at live5news.com. And your behind-the-scenes blogger is quite happy about it.  The new feature, My 5, replaces an older feature called “See It, Snap It, Send It.”

Wait a second…let me double check that name…yep. I got it right.

This time.

In fact, the title “See It, Snap It, Send It,” has led to some inside jokes in the office, because I never got the name right. I’d end up with some alternate name like “Spot It, Shoot It, Share It,” which, you have to admit, would have been just as good.

But My 5 is better for a much bigger reason than an easier-to-remember title: picture a YouTube-like system, exclusive to Live 5 WCSC viewers. Yes! In addition to the pictures that “Spy It, Shoot It, Serve It” “See It, Snap It, Send It” handled so well, you’ll also be able to upload videos, even from your cell phones.

If you see breaking news or severe weather happening, we certainly want you to send us that. It’s also a place where you can send us pictures from your aunt’s 100th birthday party, or shots of your pet doing a funny trick, or a shot of your baby taking its first step. There will even be contests throughout the year.

There are categories that make the whole process easier, too.  There’s the News category for any breaking news you see, and Weather for good weather shots you take: stormy weather, a beautiful Lowcountry sunset, or anything in between.  Then there’s the Sports category for any sporting events you happen to run across.

The Lowcountry Life is an umbrella category for things unique to the Lowcountry, including historic places, special events, weddings and the like.

The People category is the place for pictures of your family, and the Pets category is where you’d send us photos or videos of your furry, feathered or finned friends.

And we’ll begin with an opportunity for you to show off your patriotism just in time for the July 4th holiday! So stay tuned for details about that.

Couples “Come on Down”

If you’re a romantic type, you’ll want to make sure to tune in to CBS’s Emmy Award-winning THE PRICE IS RIGHT this Friday, June 19th. The game show will devote that day’s episode to “The Ultimate Wedding Shower” and couples will be called to “Come on Down” to play popular pricing games.

Actors Jack Wagner and Ashley Jones of CBS’s THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL make a special appearance to model wedding attire in advance of their characters’ wedding, (airing on Wednesday, June 24 and Thursday, June 25 on B&B). And in a special moment, one of the contestants gets down on one knee to propose in Contestants’ Row!

THE PRICE IS RIGHT, the longest-running game show in television history, is hosted by Drew Carey and airs weekdays at 11:00am on LIVE 5 WCSC, followed by LIVE 5 NEWS AT NOON. THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL airs weekdays at 1:30pm, and is the most-watched dramatic serial in the world.
